CatalyticAction Lebanon 2015 workshop presents an exciting one-week Design/Build experience to build a playground for Syrian Refugee Children in Lebanon. During this international workshop, you will be working alongside professionals, local students as well as Syrian refugee children. You will also be exposed to the work of our local partners whose main aim is to better the conditions of marginalized people in Lebanon.
The Design-Build workshop is divided into two complimentary workshops. The first workshop focuses on building the structure of the playground. The second workshop focuses on the playground components and finishing.

It is required for all the participants to meet in Beirut the day before the start of the workshop for an introductory session. You will be required to notify CatalyticAction of your travel itinerary at least two weeks before arrival in Beirut, Lebanon.
The playground construction will take place in Nahreya school, Bar Elias, Bekaa’ Valley, Lebanon.
The group will be organized to commute from Beirut to the project site and vice versa on a daily basis. After finishing the workshop you will be required to prepare a short presentation to share with the public at the American University of Beirut (AUB).
The charm of Beirut city in the summer will be of an added bonus to the workshop experience. We will organize a tour around the capital city Beirut to immerse you in the Lebanese culture. Not to mention the Lebanese food that will make your stay worthwhile!

We have also been receiving the support of renowned professors from University Politecnico Di Milano as well as the Development Planning Unit (DPU) at the University College of London.
The workshop participation fee is £300 (all the fee goes to the project: material acquisition, equipment)
The fee includes:
-Building material and equipment
-Instructions from CatalyticAction Design-Build
-Transport from/to the site
-Information and advice on travelling to/in Lebanon
-A comprehensive information pack including Lebanon cultural differences, useful phone contacts and detailed project information.
-A tour of Beirut
-A certificate of completion
-And Lasting memories!!
The fee does not include:
-Flight costs and airport pickup
-Visa: the participants are responsible to obtain any visa they might require. If proof of workshop registration is required, let us know.
-Accommodation: We will however provide you with the best offer we find. But you still have the freedom to choose your own accommodation.

We are also looking for volunteers among currently enrolled AUB students who will not pay a registration fee (you need to be currently enrolled)

The AUB students are required to meet prior to the workshop date, mainly to assist in organizing the welcoming of our International participants as well as facilitating their stay.
