Dance is much more than moving the body.
Life is a living Dance that is expressed through movements from the within.
This workshop will propose some short choreographic tale and we will be searching for the stillness through repetitive and circular steps.

The workshop is supported by the live music performed by Ali Hout, professional percussionist.

This class of “African Dance” originates from Benin, a country of West Africa. There, dance is not only a physical exercise but is above all, a “Soul exercise” that connects physical body, body memory and spiritual body and the different possibilities to express them. This class is inspired by the technique of Koffi Koko, international dancer, choreographer and master, who takes the dance’s spiritual meaning, and transforms its traditional language into a contemporary and universal feeling, inspired also by the Japanese Butoh dance and philosophy. The classes are based on a fluid and cyclic repetition of steps and a moment of free improvisation, in a constant search for the “density of the body” in its evolution.

ALICE MATTALIA began her research into the movement, body language and dance, more than ten years ago. She has an academic background in social education and continued with training in “Dance Therapy” in Torino and in “Primitive Expression”with france Shott Billmann, in Paris. She deepened her exploration through the contemporary African dance research of Koffi Koko and Paola Casetta, inspired by traditional dances of Benin, in Italy, Paris and also in Ouidah, Benin . She is a member of the International Dance Council CID UNESCO and believes in the nature of dance as human knowledge, rather than performance.
Recently she integrated her research with the Yoga practice and after her TTC 200h in the Shiva Shakti Academy. Now full certified in Yogakids TTC (USA ttc), she is teaching mostly Kids yoga and Intuitive Flow in children centers, nurseries with an educative prospective, between Beirut and Cuneo(IT).
